Obviously this is a very specific set of circumstances, but out of curiousity, who's actually used UEFI to boot Linux? Is it significantly different to BIOS?

Not sure about Samsung laptops, but i've booted into Ubuntu and Mint from UEFI from both CD and Flash drive with no issues. It is pretty much the same as booting from bios normally except you click the drive with a cursor and boot straight into it rather than changing the boot order.

Not had any problems, but this was on a desktop (P8Z68-V, 0606 Firmware)
